Support the Association’s projects
Members of the team of the NGO “Association of Alumni, Faculty and Friends of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University,” Oleksandra Yashkina and Mariia Topchii, took part in the two-day training “Together Against Violence: A Comprehensive Response,” organized by the Kharkiv-based women’s organization “Sphere.”
During the training, the participants deepened their understanding of gender-based violence, its social, psychological, and legal aspects, particularly in the context of challenges related to the war. The first day focused on the theoretical foundations of gender studies, the impact of gender stereotypes, types of violence, and approaches to providing psychological support to survivors. Particular attention was paid to the principles of sensitive communication, referral procedures for accessing specialized services, and practical tools for providing assistance.
The second day focused on legal mechanisms for preventing and combating violence. The participants examined the current legal framework, procedures for cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and available mechanisms for protecting and supporting survivors. The practical part of the training involved working through case studies, during which the teams explored possible response scenarios and approaches to providing support.
At the end of the training, the participants discussed the value of the knowledge they had gained and opportunities for applying it in various areas. For the Association’s work, participation in such activities is particularly important, as it strengthens our team’s capacity to address sensitive topics appropriately, respond more attentively to people’s needs, and build interactions based on safety, respect, and non-discrimination.
We thank the organizers for creating a space for learning, professional exchange, and important conversations that contribute to the development of responsible and people-centered civil society work!
