Support the Association’s projects
With the support of Karazin University alumna Natalia Okhotnikova, Head of the Council of Europe project “Improving judicial and non-judicial remedies for the protection of the rights of people affected by the war in Ukraine” and a lawyer specializing in the field of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the team of the NGO “Association of Alumni, Faculty and Friends of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University” distributed a legal guide among internally displaced persons (IDPs) for people whose homes were damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities. The team also provided practical explanations and recommendations on how to use the information collected in the guide.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Association has expanded its activities in response to new challenges and needs. Today, working with internally displaced persons and other people affected by the war is part of our programmatic activities aimed at community development, the integration of IDPs, and expanding access to educational and awareness-raising opportunities.
The guide contains information on obtaining compensation for damaged or destroyed housing, the necessary documents, the required steps, and opportunities for obtaining legal assistance. The materials collected in the guide help people affected by the war navigate the available compensation mechanisms and exercise their rights in practice.
It is particularly valuable that Karazin alumni are contributing to this work, applying their knowledge and experience to support people and communities. In this way, the professional expertise of our alumni helps implement socially beneficial initiatives and respond to specific needs.
We thank Natalia Okhotnikova for her support, professional expertise, and active involvement in the Association’s work!
